Software Architect
With the evolving needs of FSSC’s global customers, FSSC is seeking to redefine its application/IT landscape. As a Software Architect, your role involves designing and owning the FSSC software architecture to facilitate the transition from a monolith to an agile microservices/API-based application landscape development. You’ll establish main guidelines and work out details, from strategy to approach. Proficiency in creating robust, decoupled, and distributed solutions that enhance overall efficiency and agility is crucial. You should be adept at leveraging cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices to drive successful software development life cycles, providing support, and taking an advisory role when necessary.
The Software Architect is a new position, and you will report to Hent van Ooijen, Director Digital Services.
Key Result Areas
Strategic & Management:
- Responsible for (re)defining a business-wide IT architecture and technical solutions to support customers’ needs and exceed business goals.
Operational:
- Gather and combine information to understand different needs.
- Present solutions to various stakeholders.
- Define technical designs for the chosen architecture.
- Manage partners during the implementation stage.
- Oversee projects and inform stakeholders.
- Ensure the security of the new solution.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
With your drive and enthusiasm, you will help the FSSC organization conform and implement a robust change management system. Therefore, you should:
- Have an academic or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or IT.
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of a Software Architect, preferably within SMEs and/or startups.
- Be experienced in working in agile/scrum teams.
- Be self-motivated with excellent communication, project management, and people skills.
- Be capable of building strong interpersonal relationships.
- Have intercultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Be fluent in English, with the ability to read, write, and speak English at a high proficiency level.
- Be living in Europe and preferably in the Netherlands.
As a Software Architect, you preferably possess the following knowledge and key skills:
- Microservices Architecture: Extensive expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing microservices-based systems, fostering agility, scalability, and maintainability.
- API Design and Management: Skilled in crafting well-defined APIs that facilitate communication between microservices, ensuring interoperability and ease of integration. Proficient in API gateway implementation for centralized management.
- Event-Driven Architecture: In-depth knowledge of event-driven patterns and frameworks, enabling the creation of responsive, loosely coupled, and scalable microservices ecosystems.
- Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of the challenges and best practices associated with distributed systems, including data consistency, fault tolerance, and resilience.
- Security and Compliance: Strong focus on implementing robust security measures within microservices, ensuring data protection, access control, and compliance with industry standards.
- Low-Code Development: Proficient knowledge of low-code platforms such as Wem.io.
- Frontend Frameworks: Proficient knowledge of frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, and Vue.js.
