The past year has been a challenging year for all of us in many ways.

Together with our partners, we had to adjust our way of working, thinking, and way of connecting. However, this has also brought us many opportunities, which we would like to share with you.

FSSC 22000 Version 5.1

Recently we have published FSSC 22000 Version 5.1. With this new sub-version, the Scheme continues to meet the GFSI benchmarking requirements. Besides that, we used this opportunity to improve the Scheme and to strengthen the requirements for FSSC 22000 licensed Partners. We are confident that we can continue to provide trust through independent Scheme governance and conformity integrity to our stakeholders.

We have also successfully explored remote auditing and partial remote auditing. The result is Annex 9 of the Scheme, which explains the requirements regarding partial remote audits, and we have published an Addendum for conducting full remote FSSC 22000 audits. Click here for an overview of the audit options FSSC 22000 is now offering.

FSSC Development Program

In 2020 we also re-positioned the earlier FSSC Global Markets Program into a brand new FSSC Development Program. This unique program supports small- and medium-sized organizations in improving their food safety management system. Although this program’s launch has not been ideal, with the pandemic evolving right after its release, we’re proud to announce the expansion of scopes.

Not only is the program available for food manufacturing organizations, but we have also added the Catering scope now, to be followed in the near future by a Retail scope.

Thank you for your support!

But we couldn’t have done all this without the support of our partners, Board of Stakeholders, Advisory Committee, and the FSSC team.

It gives us great pleasure that the FSSC team continues to grow: Nicole van der Sant has started as Communication Officer, Natália Spina de Assis as IP Officer, and most recently Marc Cwikowski in a new role within the FSSC Management Board, namely Director Brand Strategy.

We are excited about the New Year to come, and we hope we can continue to work on improving food safety alongside you. Thank you.
