WFSD2021: Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow

World Food Safety Day (#WFSD2021), celebrated this year on 7 June, aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage food-borne risks.

Food safety is paramount to contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism, and sustainable development. This year’s theme, ‘Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow,’ stresses that the production and consumption of safe food have immediate and long-term benefits for people, the planet, and the economy.

GFSI’s work in benchmarking and harmonization fosters mutual acceptance of GFSI-recognized certification programs across the industry. The concept reduces inefficiencies and helps minimize trade barriers. The GFSI Benchmarking process is now the most widely accepted in the food industry worldwide.

Foundation FSSC is a GFSI recognized Certification Program Owner (CPO) embracing the concept that we all stand for the highest standards in food safety.

"Food safety is everyone's business."
WHO

Foundation FSSC firmly believes in the “once certified, recognized everywhere” approach of GFSI. This One World approach will ensure the success of World Food Safety Day, as WHO works to mainstream food safety in the public agenda and reduce the burden of food-borne diseases globally. Everyone has a role to play from farm to table to ensure the food we consume is safe and healthy.

In support of the GFSI-recognized certification and the organizations behind them, Foundation FSSC acknowledges their hard work and dedication to food safety that is the only way to ensure “safe food now for a healthy tomorrow”!
