To support FSSC 22000 certified organizations preparing themselves for the transition to the newly published version 2 of the ISO 22000 standard on 19 June 2018, Foundation FSSC has designed a gap analysis between versions 2005 and 2018. This gap analysis covers the main changes between the two versions and the nature of the changes. Also, a relation between de 2005 and 2018 versions’ clauses is included.

The introduction of the High Level Structure will certainly have an impact on how organizations approach the design and implementation of a Food Safety Management System, by giving priority to important considerations such as the PDCA cycle (2 levels) and the Risk Based Thinking (2 levels).

We trust this gap analysis will facilitate the understanding of the changes (additions, modifications and eliminations of requirements) and will support the certified organizations in their transition to implementing the requirements of ISO 22000 version 2018.

FSSC will announce a detailed plan how to include the new ISO 22000 standard in its normative requirements in October 2018. In addition, the requirements for (certified) organizations CBs and ABs will be developed to ensure a transparent and effective transition process.
