At FSSC, we are inspired by organizations that set new benchmarks for food safety and quality. One such organization is Hop Products Australia (HPA), who recently achieved our globally recognized food safety certification, FSSC 22000.

“For HPA, delivering high-quality products isn’t just about the hops we grow,” explained Quality & Compliance Manager Katie Crane, “it’s also about how we process them.” This drive for excellence led HPA to rigorously evaluate its food safety strategy, resulting in the decision to pursue FSSC 22000 certification specifically for their Hop Central processing site.
Unlike ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 provides a broader, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-recognized framework, incorporating additional requirements to ensure the certification Program’s continued relevance and effectiveness.
We chose to pursue FSSC 22000 certification for Hop Central, instead of ISO 22000, because of the additional requirements recognized by the GFSI. This adds another layer of trust and assurance for our customers whilst integrating seamlessly with our existing ISO quality management system.Katie Crane, Quality & Compliance Manager, Hop Products Australia
FSSC 22000 certification confirms that Hop Central follows globally recognized best practices to produce the highest quality hop pellets in a consistent and compliant manner.
HPA’s implementation of robust food safety and management systems doesn’t end here. The farms and head office also hold ISO 9001 and HACCP CXC 1-1969 certifications. “Structured certifications like FSSC, ISO, and HACCP aren’t just boxes for HPA to tick,” said Katie Crane. “They reflect our deep commitment to regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and continual improvement of our practices.”
For FSSC, such organizations embody the vision of safer and more sustainable supply chains. As HPA’s Katie Crane beautifully put it: “Our certifications reflect the seriousness with which we take our role in that ecosystem, ensuring that the hops you rely on are grown, handled, and processed with the same care that you have for your beers.”

We congratulate HPA on this milestone and look forward to supporting their continued food safety certification with FSSC 22000.
